PRP Therapy Treatment

Platelet-rich plasma is derived from the patient’s own blood, and is used to create a highly concentrated solution with five to ten times the normal quantity of growth factor, components found in plasma that help with healing and recovery. The procedure is fairly straight-forward. Dr. Meier and members of his team will extract blood from the patient, and separate the platelets from the red and white blood cells by running it through a centrifuge. Once the platelet-rich plasma solution has been prepared, it is administered to the affected joint or tissue by way of a simple injection, giving patients a new option beyond conservative treatments that may have previously failed, or surgical procedures that may not be an option for every patient and injury.
